My Testimony

It was my sophomore year of college, I was 20 years old.  I was going through a really hard time.

I didn’t know Jesus growing up.  I didn’t grow up going to church.  My mom (who claimed Catholicism) and my dad (who was Jewish) didn’t want to force any of us kids to believe a certain way.  So we just didn’t go to church.

Well during this rough patch of my life in college, I knew something was missing. I started researching my Jewish heritage, because my dad was Jewish.  But I still felt like something was missing…

I had a teammate on my college soccer team (she was one of the captains), who I knew was into the whole “church thing” as I called it.  She was always in a good mood and always so positive.  There was just something different about her, and one day I asked her why she was like that and she said because Jesus changed her life.  I remember texting her one night and I said, “Alright, who’s this Jesus guy and what’s so special about  him?”  For the next few days she would graciously meet with me at the library on campus and show me verses that would help me with what I was feeling and the hard times I was going through.

And eventually she shared the gospel with me.

She explained to me what salvation was and what it meant to be saved.  She gave me a copy of the New Testament.

Then, on the night of January 25, 2008, in the middle of my dorm room all by myself, I asked the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive me of my sins and to come into my heart and save me.

It was the best decision I’ve ever made and I haven’t been the same ever since!
